Mahishmati, the kingdom where the entire Baahubali movie series is based was actually an ancient Indian city that has been mentioned in several texts including Mahabharata and Digha Nikaya. According to mythology, Mahishmati was one of the most influential and important city in the Southern part of the Avanti kingdom and this later went on to become the capital of the Anupa Kingdom.

Baahubali: The Conclusion is being produced in Tollywood, the center of Telugu language films in India based out of Hyderabad, however it is being filmed in both Telugu and Tamil languages simultaneously.
